Guard announcing it's been put out, and trains hopefully running through in 30 minutes.

On 2c65, which went from platform 9 at Clapham Junction, instead of 6 and is going direct to Virginia water via Weybridge. Apparently we hit 90mph, which is fun in a 450.

Anyone got further info? It's been an interesting diversion.

Traksy suggests that the offending unit has been consigned to the naughty corner of Staines Up Loop

Metal part of the suitcase causing a short between the shoe and the juice rail or between the running rail and the juice rail?

"Unattended luggage will be thrown onto the third rail and destroyed by the security services".

Yet another one that wouldn't happen with 25kV...

No, it'd just fall down onto the aforementioned train and suitcase.

The local paper liked their dramatic article: HERE

A train full of passengers was on fire at Staines station late on Monday evening (April 3).
Surrey Fire and Rescue sent a number of crews and a water carrier to the scene after they were called out at around 7:45pm.
Police also rushed to help.
They found flames under a train on one of the platforms at the station.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet and a dry power extinguisher to put out the blaze.
It was over before 8:30pm.
One passenger, @Georginaksx on Twitter was on board.
She told Eagle Radio: "We were on the carriage and it smelt like burning and we all got told to get off then evacuate and there is two fire vans & police."
By 8:15pm she said the fire was out.
