Thank you for that link.The location of the aerial platform engines shows that lessons have been learned from the Newquay hotel fire that claimed several lives a few years ago - then the only two such ladders in Cornwall were located at Camborne and Falmouth, the former in practice out-of-action medium term, therefore the further-away Falmouth one had to be called in, taking too long to get there to have a chance of helping to save those lives. Newquay and Truro are much more logical - Falmouth might look geographically to be better than Truro, but in practice the road system being what it is it could only get quicker to an incident than Truro's if it was either very close to Falmouth or on the eastern side of the Lizard. Still, a shame that Camborne could not keep one for the far west of the county.
