FIP on the GW Night Riviera

Myself and Wife are considering travelling on the Night Riviera from Paddington to Penzance next year. We're in possession of FIP tickets. I'm enquiring what this entitles us to on the sleeper. I was told it's valid for travel, but a cabin has to be purchased. Is this the case?

As far as I'm aware, FIP holders are treated the same way as holders of GB Staff Travel Facilities, so on the Night Riviera you can travel in Seated Accommodation on either a coupon (by dating a box, which I believe can be dated for the following day for overnight journeys commencing after 2200, the same as a box on a UK staff travel card) or at the appropriate discount when buying a ticket. In either case, you need to make a (free) seat reservation.

For Sleeper accommodation, you can either use a box and pay the berth supplement (currently £35 per person for a Twin cabin) or get a discount on the berth-inclusive fare.
