Mornin' All,

Is the only way to get from the National Rail platfroms to the Underground by leaving via the station front and using the adjacent Undergound entrance (as suggested by National Rail's plan)? There seems to be a way from the NR subway, but according to the NR plan, it was blocked off. Is this back in use?

Thanks! :)

The spiral stairs were closed for repair, but IIRC they're open again now. They're busy though.

If you've got luggage go out of the station and come back in (or change at Highbury and Islington if you can).

I'll be empty-handed, so I should be OK - Thanks! :D

There used to be two spiral staircases (one to/from the north and southbound platforms). These were closed, refurbished and two out of use shafts reinstated so you now have two for each direction. One is slightly wider than the other.

I wondered if they should make one up and one down, but figure they knew nobody would take any notice!

I'm surprised nobody thought to use the shafts for a lift either, as it would make the underground platforms fully accessible as there's now a lift from street level to the corridor. Presumably for a number of reasons, like insufficient room for lift equipment etc.
