Finishing the Dials test

I was just wondering how many people actually finish the dials test (trp2) I only managed to do 32 of the 43 questions, and the person next to me managed about the same. Seems 43 in 8 minutes is almost impossible to finish

I finished them all with a minute to spare. Noted some others put their pens down before time too.

Well i certainly didn't finish, can't remember exactly, but i'm sure i was less than 2/3 of the way through and i passed. In fact i got feed back at the interview and was told that i got a "good" pass.

I am just waiting for my start date.... happy days!!

I managed to get through all of them.

When I did the practice materials I overcomplicated and didn't read the instructions. I then did the 8 questions again and breezed through.

When it came to assessement alot of people struggled to understand. It felt like a long wait so everyone had time to do the practice and get explanations from the assessors.

I managed all with a 30seconds or so at the end to be pleased.

Throughout my test the person next to me was rocking the table with everything they did when they were writing. Quite anoying...can't exactly say it was off putting considering I want responsibility of driving a train haha.

Yes, passed all assessments including structured interview. LM decided they then didn't need any external candidates.

Got 43 out of 43 correct so it is possible. I enjoy puzzles along the lines of Sudoku etc where scanning numbers/rows at speed is required to try and complete them within the recommended times. I believe that's what helped.

I completed around 23 out of 43 on my first attempt and got a B (average pass). On my second attempt I completed about 25-27 out of 43 and got an A (good pass). All answered correctly both times, but you really don't need any more than about 20 to pass, could probably get away with even less for a borderline pass!

FGW doesn't accept borderline passes :P

Ash44: I totally understood what was required, and breezed though the practice materials one, I guess I was shocked at how many and how little time there was for the main event :P. Plus adding in numbers threw me off a little.

I either got them all right, or all wrong :P we'll see.

If you got 32 out of 43 that's going to be an A. Probably an outstanding pass if not a good pass.






I scored low 20s on my first attempt and I was not borderline.

Remember, as with the dots, its about quality rather than quantity.

Hello!

I've noticed some people have an idea of the pass rates for the dials test. Does anyone also know what sort of mark would pass for the GLOP test?

Not a clue because of the nature of the test.
Dials test -you are likely to get every question correct that you answered but unlikely to come near to finishing the questions. (either that or get every one wrong due to not understanding the instructions as the beginning!!! )
So it's easy to get a rough idea how many you need to pass because you know how many you answered.
Glop test - you get plenty of time to answer all the questions but your likely to get many of them wrong. So it's hard to know the pass mark as you don't know what you answered wrong.

Two completely different tests. Dials is lots of easy questions, just not enough time to answer them all. Glop is fewer, difficult questions, with plenty of time to answer them.

Fragiledog - Just to let you know, I was in the same session as you, only got 32 done, (maybe we were sitting next to each other!) and have just been told I passed on to the next round.

Hope you have got/get your results today as well.

So the dials test is in addition to the other fault finding test where you have diagrams of cabs right? The latter has been explained to me.

The dials is the one where you have to work out the severity of a fault based on numbers and shadings etc?
