As a relatively new railways fan how can i find out and match headcodes to the services i travel on and the locos and trains that i photograph?thank you for any help you can give.

Finding headcodes for passenger and freight services?

Can't help for freight, but if you go to this site, you can get every passenger headcode in the country. It's not the easiest thing to use, but it works. Just make sure you make it clear that it's a railway station and, at the bottom of the page, make sure only "Train" is checked.

good site, also has the platform the train is (likely) to depart from
And the platform it is booked to finish at, which for King's Cross is often incorrect late at night. Many services are booked to start or end on platforms 9-11 but will actually go from the main building. These platform numbers should be shown in red, but that site doesn't do that.

This is so cool, again it's for passenger services. It takes a while to get used to, but once you've got the hang of it, it is soooo useful, including telling you the headcode of trains. And, best of all, it's not just for crosscountry trains services, and you don't have to have a constant internet connection on your phone to use it, just for when you download timetables or to update ones you already have. Enjoy.
P.S. Just out of curiosity, does anyone else have this on their mobile, & what do they think of it?
