Just a quick message to say I’ve finally been successful and received an offer of employment from Network Rail, after what seemed like an age! Although on the face of it, it has only taken 8 months and 5 interviews from my first application. I have spent a fair few years gaining what I felt was the necessary experience which would give me a chance at being successful, so in all it has been quite a lengthy process

Coming from a railway family this makes me immensely proud, as I can now follow in many family members’ footsteps and look forward to forging a long and successful career within Network Rail.

I am currently going through my pre-employment checks, waiting for a full medical to be booked and just wishing the time away chomping at the bit to get my start date and finally get started. Out of interest how long has it taken people to commence employment from accepting their formal offer? I appreciate nothing happens quickly on the railways and am prepared for a long wait but currently feel like a kid waiting for Xmas to come round!

Finally a big thanks to all the posters on this forum as I have often used posts from here for invaluable advice throughout various stages of the recruitment process and feel that this has helped me greatly in being successful so thanks guys!!!!!!

Great news buddy, well done.

Reference of formal offer to start date, it is usually a month after medical. Unless you are placed in a talent pool which could take longer. Hopefully you'll get a start date in the next month or so.

All the best on your new journey.

Regards

Cheers, and no talent pool involved thankfully, a month or so wait I could just about handle I think;)

Hopefully my medical will be booked sooner rather than later.

I will be a CSA, unsure whether I am mobility or security at the moment, guessing I will find out when I start. Just so glad to finally be in!
