Not seen anything confirmed, a quick flick through the 700 thread with post's wondering when the 319's are going.

I've heard the last official day of Class 319's on GTR diagrams is Sunday 4th June 2017? Is this true?

Just asking so I know whether to book advance tickets to London

Cheers,

James.

Will they get a farewell tour given how long they've been used on Thameslink for?

If Govia have any sense they will give their best 6 units a good send off, the fleet have worked bloody hard on the route for 29 years, they are all still in service. thats not bad for squadron of emus.the regulars will miss em..they do become friends, once you do enough mileage on em.....so a farewell to friends should be in order, perhaps a special to weymouth? or a bedford - reading via the north and west london line ??

I won't miss them. Uncomfortable, especially in summer. Unreliable, especially in winter. Almost guaranteed to run late when on peak services due to dwell times and poor acceleration.

In their defence, they have been flogged for nearly three decades.

Did the Class 317s get a farewell tour on the Great Northern?

No, but GTR have managed one better than a farewell tour : February and March turned out to be a 317 gala with plenty of action covering 365s, including on some fast runs and higher-mileage diagrams. It would be nice to have one of the born-and-bred GN 317/2 units to come over from Greater Anglia for one last thrash though.

I didn't like them many moons ago, then I was told to sit in the MSO, since then that's it I've been hooked!! :D

Love the wheelslip (though I shouldn't say that) my favorite was always a thrash up the MML on a St Pancras - St Albans fast

Thameslink being all 700 at "end of May" was mentioned on 23rd March in the 700 thread. I don't think this is surprising news, it might have been better just added to the 319 into storage thread?

Was on one of their ealiest runs to Luton from Sevenoaks. It was the first even remotely 'modern' unit to serve that station in my lifetime until the Networkers came in.
