Filton to Taunton

I'm travelling from Filton Abbey Wood (FIT) to Taunton (TAU) on 4 Sept. I just put the details in the National Rail Journey Planner (with a 16-25 Railcard) and it told me to get a £12.50 'Business Saver/Off-peak Return.'

I was just wondering... is this correct given that I'm travelling at 07.47? If so - what is the point of the Standard Day Return?

Buy it online and they can't argue! Yorkies the one to ask - i don't (and many others i imagine) don't have a clue about the new fares!

Its possible that Off Peak is BVR and Super Off Peak will be SVR

Just done a search and it seems that the BVR is to be abolished and there will just be an Off-peak (valid from the 08.42).

Indeed it is correct. The SDR is subject to the £16 minimum fare before 1000 with the railcard whereas the BVR has a minimum fare of £8. Without the railcard, though, the SDR is cheaper than the BVR.

Now for the restriction code. The restriction code for the BVR on this journey is '8A' as I'm sure you're pleased to hear - 8A meaning 'any train'. The ticket is valid for the journey you wish to make.

This is as a direct result of the Telegraph article as previously the Business Saver on these routes was subject to the £16 minimum fare and had the Anytime fare name but has now been changed to an Off Peak with Validity code restricition 8A (pretty much the same as NXEC with their 0100- 0415 restriction)
