Now that there shutting filton airfield in Bristol. Whats the chances of airbus moving there stuff by the near railway line

It's only BAe pulling out; Airbus themselves will still be using the site.

No. The airfield belongs to BAE not Airbus. Airbus own the production facilities only, which they took over when BAE pulled out of Airbus.

The airfield will undoubtedly be sold on for housing much as the north side was a few year back when deemed surplus to requirements.

If they build houses how will Airbus move stuff from one side of the now airfield to the other side

They won't all Airbus facilities are located in the area on the south side of the runway.

The main runway area of approx 150 ha is basically unused once aviation stops, if your local go and have a drive around cribbs causeway (Merlin Rd) and the new link road, plenty of roundabouts with unbuilt turnouts into the airfield.... redevelopment of the runway/airfield complex into something non aviation related is IMHO a near certainty.

So to rephrase the question....

Now that they're shutting Filton airfield in Bristol, what's the chances of Airbus moving their components by the near railway line? Presumably between Chester, their main factory and Filton.

The completed wingsets would no-doubt be roaded to Bristol docks for onward transfer to mainland Europe.
