Don't know if any one else caught it, but there was an interesting documentary on the UK rail industry broadcast last night on Radio 4. Contributions from Philip Hammond, Margaret Hodge. Nigel Harris and issues such as overcrowding, fare structures and rolling stock procurement were covered. The finger was definitely pointed at overbearing control from civil servants at the DfT and I thought that Network Rail got off fairly lightly.
