I saw a similar thing the other day. I sold a gent a ticket from Brookmans Park to London Terminals.

It printed as Brookmans Park - London Thameslink despite not specifying it.

There is no competition on that route but I did wander..

This is also worrying. Brookmans Park (on the ECML, north of Potters Bar) has validity into Old Street/Moorgate in addition to Kings Cross.

Whilst it is good for passengers to have validity to Farringdon/Blackfriars, this should not be at the expense of established routes.

Why? This has been the case for as long as I can remember.

It gives passengers the ability to cross Farringdon on Thameslink to as far as Elephant & Castle, for no extra charge.

There is no walk-on fare from Thameslink stations north of St Pancake to London Terminals. They are all issued to London Thameslink. The OP was sold a fare that doesn't actually exist (not in The Manual anyway). Completely different kettle of fish.

Well you would think so wouldn't you, but not all of them are, For many all you get is a message to check the relevant section of the manual. The only Metrolink ones I have seen in the fares finder are from within the TfGM area and none of the Luton Bus MK ones I have checked are there.

But Brookmans Park is not a "Thameslink station[] north of St Pancake"---it is on the ECML with direct services into Moorgate (weekdays) and King's Cross (weekends, early mornings, late evenings). It has always had a walk-on fare to London Terminals. Offering London Thameslink fares as an alternative is great, but if someone asks for a London Terminals fare (so that they can go to/from Moorgate) that is what should be printed.

I've lived both north and south of Brookmans Park on the ECML, and none of the others print as Thameslink to my knowledge.

By that do you mean that you intructed the TIS specifically to print London Kings Cross - Cambridge and it printed London Terminals to Cambridge?

I concur, the TiS that I use only shows London Terminals to Cambridge tickets when it actually comes to basketing them - despite RJIS showing the duplicates from London Kings X. The plot thickens!

FasTis puts the KGX-CBG tickets in the basket as Kings Cross - Cambridge, unfortunately, I'm not really in a position to print and non-issue them to test how they print, being some two hundred miles away.......

WebTIS (East Coast at least) clearly shows the two fares if you specify KGX as origin. Only London Terminals fares are shown otherwise.

It is all most odd. I wonder if it could be part of some bodged-together "smart" ticketing scheme, along the lines of the existence of Chiltern Only fares with the same price & restrictions as the Via High Wycombe fares, but which are not supposed to be issued? Or just a cock-up? Or something more suspicious as noted above.

There's another oddity with RSH that I can't work out. Am wondering if it's a similar type of issue.

London Bridge to Windsor & Eton Riverside. Exact same times checked via National Rail site and RSH for an off-peak fare this afternoon.

RSH cheapest is the Anytime Day Return priced at 23.40
(There should be an off-peak option also shown ... but it's missing).

NR shows 11.10 as the cheapest return (Off-Peak). When selecting the Anytime Day Return, it shows 17.40

I know there are two train operators (FGW via Paddington and SWT from Waterloo). While I can't find out all details about the ticket, I wonder if RSH is doing a Z1 to Windsor ticket rather than London Bridge, or something equally strange.

Looks like it is indeed trying to sell the Zone U1* London-Windsor fare.
