Okay have to say it the fgw hst i was on today was excellent comfy seats lots of legroom and even a tv was so quiet as well. I have no idea why people dont like the refurb. Anyone else love the new interiors? Can't see 5 coach trains taking over was packed...

According to thejunction only two 142s remain in fnw livery. I was on a fnw unit today and the seating backs were rusting away plus the legs were very shabby. hope this gets sorted on refresh

The seats are the same in the newly painted ones. These units are returning to Northern later in the year.

My estimations of fgw have really risen after my cornish trip seen nothing but outstanding refurbishments, freshly painted stations and polite staff. What a turn around

Very rare that you see a 158 in Exeter now - I believe that all the Waterloo line trains are 159s now. Wessex did run a couple of Alphaline 158s occasionaly, and even FGW have run a 158 to Barnstaple once in the past.

Class 158s to Exmouth, Barnstaple and Paignton were regular in 2006/7. Until 2008 they were regular on services through to Penzance as well. There is still one FGW Class 158 that runs to Exeter on a Saturday night, returning on a Sunday morning. The daily Cardiff-Paignton and return service is often a Class 158 and 150, but it is booked for two Class 150s. The SWT services are mainly 159s but a few 158s do operate to Exeter.

They'll just be going back in the same condition they arrived in...;)

they'll be going back in better condition you mean! they no longer have mushrooms growing out of the seats and the seats actually have covers on them now!
