FGW Website Not Offering Fares...

Hi All,
I am trying to book on the 21:45 PAD - EXD Service for tomorrow and NRE says its possible but FGW Website does not let you do it and it says it doesnt exist...

What can I do?

I managed to get it off of Virgin Trains.

This is interesting, according to Virgin the train will be running through to Exeter and it seem that based on that they have issued a ticket. FGW and the WTT short term variation though show that the train will be terminating at Taunton.

Yes, you will.

The NRES planner is yet again pretending everything is ok and proudly advertising trains running as normal between Exeter and Taunton tommorrow. It's best to just ignore it - you'll be on the bus

FGW have lifted ticket restrictions due to the disruption. Whilst you normally cannot finish short on an Advance, I cannot imagine this would be a problem on this route at the moment. They'd probably be grateful of one less person on the bus!

Will there definitely be a bus connecting with this train at Taunton?

I would imagine so? I'd suggest you check but I've no idea who with, every time you ask staff not directly related with either physically organising a bus or sheperding people onto a bus they don't know actually know. But FGW have been excellent with the bus provision thus far - last month I arrived at Taunton at 22: somethingorother and there was indeed a bus.

• you have a ticket with a reservation for a rail journey London - Exeter, and
• the part of the journey Taunton - Exeter by rail is cancelled

then yes, going by an alternative means of transport Taunton - Exeter is one of the options open to you.

last month I arrived at Taunton at 22: somethingorother and there was indeed a bus.

It would be interesting to know what they did for the last train on Christmas Eve (the 1945 from Paddington). It arrived at Tiverton Parkway about 20 minutes late but the last train for Plymouth left Newton Abbot on time. I was surprised they didn't hold it so that people on the bus could make the connection. Would the bus have continued to Totnes and Plymouth?

This train is set down only west of Bristol so considering that no-one can join the train at Taunton, if there are only a handful of passengers going through to Exeter at that hour could it be a taxi rather than a bus?

You could probably have counted the passengers on one hand so I'd imagine it was taxi rather than extending the coach hire.

They don't seem to have been holding anything specifically for the buses to arrive which is rage inducing and frustrating when you arrive on a bus and watch your train leave but given the buses arriving are a constant trickle and not running to any timetable it's difficult to see how they could hold the trains.

The 23:15 EXD - PLY was held for the coaches on sunday but then cancelled at EXD and everyone was Taxi'd all 35 or so...
