It appears that there are delays of around 120 minutes due to a Lightning Strike of signalling equipment

Delays set to continue until end of service.

Anyone down on the ground?

Trains running at reduced speed on UM & DM with points clipped and drivers being talked past signals at danger. Some signal aspects apparently changing randomly.

Oh and the subway at Didcot Parkway is flooded!!

Ouch. Also to add salt into the wounds, there are also problems at Taunton.

I imagine a lot of stock (esp HSTs) will be out of place in the morning.

There are also signalling problems between Plymouth and Saltash to top it all off.

50 MPH speed limit imposed between Iver and Slough too. Taking up to an hour to get through due to speed limit, talking past, back up of trains and late starts due to it. Not to mention any crew displacement. Nightmare. We've had better days that's for sure!

Some cancellations too. 1C24 was due to run from Paddington to Weston SM but terminated early at Bristol TM. That was due to form 1A34 Weston SM to Paddington but started at Bristol TM.

Also the same storm is causing delays at Heathrow with a lot of aircraft being held on the ground in Europe

As is immediatly obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense, any railway news is quickly diluted by the effect of picking the name of a city in the USA as your hashtag...

Is it really hard to just pick something unique? NRESLangley would do the job and mean anyone clicking for rail info gets rail info and only rail info.

Feel sorry for the people caught up in this. I was delayed on a service going the other way for different reasons - not as much as 2 hours, though, even with a longish-distance coach ride involved.

Today more issues.

Line side fire between Oxford and Didcot due to a fire, so bustitutions are in force

If it hammers down until the end of the month, with flooding elsewhere on the network, it won't be long until Cowley Bridge Jn is flooded once again
