I applied for this position which closed on the 10th and have heard nothing back, is it safe to say this is gone ?

Any knowledge of the sort of timescales for FGW applications would be lovely.

If you had applied on the 10jan2013 you would be due a reply about now, rail recruitment and quick are not phrases normally used together. There are glaciers (not the mints ) that move faster than rail recruitment.

Haha just haven't known what to think, the job advert was pretty vague in terms of qualifications but it was a trainee so I thought I had a chance.

Physics degree helpful at all if anyone's a planner?

Not really, just problem solving, numearcy and untangling spaghetti when you move one train and it affects 30 odd more.....

No just a degree of common sense is needed

Planner has probably been in the industry longer than me but many people with very good qualifications are unable to understand the job and some with just a bit of real world knowledge have clicked and found it an enjoyable challenge.
