FGW Sleeper Livery

Anyone know if FGW are planning on re-painting their Sleeper stock and Class 57s into the 'new' livery to match the HSTs etc? :???:

I personally think they should leave them both as they are as they look smart.

I also think that because the sleeper services are a.....erm.....'different' (?) part of FGW, to say just normal services, that they should be left in a livery of their own to stand out. 8)

Slightly off topic for the forum I know but does anybody now how well these sleepers load nowadays?
I havent used them for over 2 years after a period of intensive use.
Then on a Sunday night they were very lightly loaded indeed outside of school holidays. A typical loading would be maybe 5 passengers for Plymouth and 5 for further on.
Unless there had been something like a rugby event in London it was normal for me to be the only paying passenger in the buffet car all night although it was quite common for groups of rail staff to be travelling on privs in the 1st class seats.
I seem to recall that there retention was going to hearld a new era of marketing but there is little to see on the fgw website and its still not possible to book on line!

I thought this had already happened for many of the fleet, when they got rid of the MKIIs? They did retain the 'Fag Packet' livery although now have white doors for visually impaired??

If they fit those HD seats to the sleeper cars god knows how they expect anybody to sleep.

The mark 2s were replaced with ex VWC loco hauled mark 3s, they havnt been refurbished and retain the VWC interiour which in FC is actually probably the best seating available on the network at present, the SC coachs are rather 'worn' inside. They were put into fag packet livery, yes with grey doors. A refurb of the sleeper stock is on the cards, not sure about the seating coachs, but a new livery will be applied.

As for loading, it is common for there to be no berths available, and on a Friday and Sunday night the train is 'upped' from three sleeper coachs to four to cater for demand. You can pay an extra £10 to upgrade from SC seating to FC seating any day of the week....

Weds night there were 4x sleepers, 2x FC/buffet/luggage cars and standard seating coach A. Not sure about berths but seating was about 1/5 full

Last time I was on it the standard berths were sold out.

Berths are varible, with anything up to 4 coaaches of berths, then there is the Buffet with FC seating, Fc seating with guards accom then Coach A the SC coach

TBH I think they should keep the current livery, helps to keep the sleeper service 'standing out' from the rest of the fleet, looks quite professional too, particularly with the new grey doors!

I think personally it should stay the same as well, it looks quite unique on the sleepers, however i still prefer the caledonian sleeper livery.
