With both locomotive hauled diagrams brought to a close and all six 150/1s delivered from LO to join those two already with FGW I can only presume the four hired ATW 150/2s will be next to leave. I am not sure if SWT still loan a 158?

Please could someone let me know when the recently cascaded 150/1s will enter service plus pics. I believe they will recieve a plain blue FGW livery.

I wonder if these trains will be used on the Brighton services! This might not be a bad thing as they have the older high capacity seating

Wouldn't be a novelty at all, I'm pretty sure the original two 150s they received from LO a year or two ago have already been to Brighton and Portsmouth while still in their Silverlink livery.

I'm not sure on the exact order of things, but I think with the delivery of the 150/1s from LOROL two things happen - the loco-hauled trains stop and the 142s go back to Northern. Once the additional 150/1s arrive from London Midland then I believe the 150/2s go back to ATW, the 158/8 goes back to SWT and the remaining FGW 2-car 158s are reformed as 3-car units (which would leave one spare vehicle to act as a maintenance spare, as FGW have 20 2-car units and 1 3-car unit currently formed as 11 3-car and 5 2-car units).

Yes i is good all two car 158s will become three car! You mean one carriage will be kept maintenance ie to cover out of service vehicles?

I did not know 142s would go first

They will only go back when the ex-LM 150/1s start to appear. The LOROL 150s have only allowed the loco-hauled turns to finish, plus the SWT hire in.

The thing with the ATW 150s is that even if they were to go back immediately, ATW probably have no funding to operate them, based on what was said a couple of years ago. If they were essential to ATW's plans surely they would never have been hired out in the first place?

Extra 150's will be useful to sub for 175's on Manchester and Holyhead runs while the latter are being refurbished!:lol::lol:

Or some of the 57s which Virgin have just put into store. Have ATW still got those Mk2s ?

ATW 150/2s should be the next units to go now. When the LM units arrive the 142s and the SWT 158 will leave.

Ah, that'll explain why I saw a FGW liveried 150 in Brighton then! And also why there were 4-car Brighton services last week. I wonder if that's deliberate and intended to continue? (I have been on a 6-car Brighton before, but I assume that was just relocating stock from an earlier cancelled 3-car service)

Just being used instead of a three car. Rather than use a 2-car set wherever possible two, 2-car sets are coupled.
