Hi there.

I'm planning on travelling from Norwich to Exmouth in the near future, and will wish to use either the 1803 or 1903 from Paddington to Exeter, both of which have restaurant cars.

My question is, is it possible to reserve a seat in the restaurant? How likely is it to be full up? I may consider buying a First Advance (or whatever they're called) - can you reserve a seat in the restaurant with one of these?

Incidentally what has happened to the FGW timetable? They seem to have dropped all the standard symbols in favour of a maze of hyroglifics.

My understanding is that passengers wishing to dine in the restaurant car approach the catering crew when boarding the service (or later if appropriate while they are still serving) and ask to be seated. This is IN ADDITION to a seat in First, or standard, accommodation which would be reservable.
It is not possible to book a table in the restaurant in advance.
