Hi,

Does anyone know what type of traction or routes that drivers out of FGW Reading depot have please?

Any info would be very much appretiated!

Rumour has it for working the Reading to Basingstoke Line. I believe a 150 has been seen in the Bay Platform at Basingstoke on a test run.

I think Gatwick is top link - reserve of senior drivers.

If you're staring out I believe it's Paddington to Oxford, plus a couple of branchlines, plus depot shunting at Reading. Then picking up extra routes as you gain seniority.

I thought the 150s were more than a rumour?

So how many links are there at FGW Reading?

Is Crossrail likely to have a negative impact on the Reading - Paddington line (taking work away from FGW drivers)?

Is it a good base to work from?

Someone said (not sure where I read it) that 75% of cross rail drivers will be from the Reading depot, 50% from Paddington. Hence why they are recruiting so much recently.

You can't have more than 100% of drivers in total.

yes you can, if you have 100 drivers at reading, 75% of that would be about 75 drivers, and you have 100 drivers at Padd, 50% needed then that would be 50 drivers. Meaning they will need 125 drivers to work crossrail.

Anyway can't remember where i read this info so it may just be in my head, but I'm sure I saw it somewhere. By the way, not sure how many drivers are at reading or paddington i just made those figures up.

Well if there were 150 drivers at Reading, 75% would be about 113 not 37. In your post above though you said that 75% of Crossrail drivers will be from Reading and that impies that 75% of all the Crossrail drivers will be allocated from Reading and the remaiing 25% from other depots.
