The Telephone Interview is in the format of a Competency Based Interview (CBI). In this type of interview - also sometimes referred to as a behavioural or structured Interview you will be asked to talk about your past experiences in line with each competency area, so it is important to be prepared.
The interview will typically last between 15 and 30 minutes and during this time the Interviewer will explain the content of your Interview at the start, if you are unsure of anything then please ask the Interviewer to explain in more detail.
During the Interview you will be asked questions against some or all of the following competency areas (exactly which areas are assessed will depend on the specific role that you have applied for):
Motivation In this area youll be assessed on your passion and enthusiasm for working at First and the specific role you have applied for.
Communication and Influencing In this area youll be assessed on how you demonstrate successfully communicating with others and how you use your communication skills to influence others.
Customer Service In this area youll be assessed on how you demonstrate your customer service skills and your understanding of what excellent customer service looks like.
Team Work and Team Leadership In this area youll be assessed on how you demonstrate working with or leading a team to deliver a common objective.
In all Telephone Interviews your Communication skills will also be observed and assessed, so it is also important that you speak clearly, openly and appropriately with the Interviewer throughout the interview.
At the end of the Interview you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the Interview or the next stages.
To make sure that you are prepared and able to perform to your full potential during the Telephone Interview its important that you:
Pick an appointment that is convenient for you, and ensure you are in a quiet location where you wont be disturbed or distracted.
If something important comes up and the appointment that you schedule is no longer convenient, please dont feel that you have to go ahead with it, instead we would advise you to reschedule.
