THe 17:49 to Worcester Shrub Hill was cancelled yesterday....

There was a delay and the train manager optimistically announced that they had a brake problem and a fitter was attending but he still sounded optomistic that we would still be departing.

Then about 10+ minutes later he announced that the train had been cancelled etc.... Except that it then became the train to Oxford and people started boarding...... SO basically the passangers on the original train ended getting stitched up because of the delays.

These brake failures are getting to be annoying!

ok - i see what happened - it became so late that it made more sense to get on the following train to shrub hill. It was just the unfortunate people travelling to Maidenhead that ended with a more uncomfortable journey.

Understandable that you are annoyed but how much more annoyed would you be if you had complete brake failure on your journey? Modern traction brakes are actually quite a complicated system incorporating many different safety features. Unfortunately, things go wrong from time to time but it's a fail safe system so more likely to fail with the brakes stuck on than stuck off.
Soak it up.
