Yes we are! Mind you the belief is these two might not come back.

And at least one of these services is booked a 153 rather than a 150. (The diagram is quite complex - the 153 is detached from a Cardiff or Bristol-Penzance at Plymouth , does Gunnislake services, then up to Newton Abbot and back to Gunnislake.)

There is a 150 still works the Exmouth & Paignton services, it would appear about lunchtime on the sea wall when I was down there.

142s only work all the way down to Penzance as a very last resort (i.e. no available other stock whatsoever). Since they have been with FGW, IIRC I know of only one working down to Penzance, & that was when they first started coming down here last year, AFAIK they haven't worked to Penzance since, I think it was just a run to see how they would cope.

Hadn't heard of one working a passenger service down there at all, may hyva e been a test run. There was an occasion a few years ago when a 143 went all the way and a few FGW staff turned out just for the rarity if it.

I'm not farmiliar with the SW, but I think 142s seem to suit the routes alright for now.

Could someone tell me what the "Devon Metro" service is? I can find lots of references but no explanation as to which route?

It's not an actual service AFAIK, more of a 'nickname' by enthusiasts of the local services between Plymouth & Exeter, including the branch lines to Paignton, Exmouth, & Barnstaple.

Because there are no class 156s available and none AFAIK are goign to be replaced by the new class 172s whereas a number of class 150s will be, which can then replace some class 142s.
