Can I ask for since advice, I was heading to Carmarthen this morning only for the train to be terminated at Bristol due to Newport issues (replacement taxi, who got lost, to Severn tunnel junction, then was meant to be a bus, but the trains were back running), net result adriving 2 hours late (by timetable).

I'm assuming I will claim via FGW as the problem happened on their leg?
Is signalling problems covered by FGW (as I don't believe they do delay repay)

Also I had an advance ticket from Cardiff to Fishguard (plans changed after booking the first ticket to Carmarthen so I was going to be naughty and break the journey by spending a bit of time in Cardiff), but due to the delays I missed it by around 10 minutes (and due to the one train every 3 hours nature couldn't fit it in), do you think I will be able to claim a refund due to delays on a connection?

FGW offers a customer charter scheme and I believe it does not pay out for issues outside its own control.

You are unlikely to get anything for the Cardiff to Fishguard Harbour ticket as your use of it would have depended on you violating the conditions of one or other of your tickets.

Although that does depend on the person who opens the letter working that out.

Actually, they do not pay out for issues beyond the control of "the rail industry", so problems down to Network Rail would still be covered (unless the signal problems were caused by trespass, cable theft etc)

I will put in a claim for the Salisbury to Carmarthen part which is the part which cost more.

See what they come back with.
