I'm currently on board FGW 158954, which is making a surprise appearance on the 1706 Taunton to Cardiff Central, which has been started back from Bridgwater at 1717 due to flooding.

Not only that, but it bizarrely is currently just a 2-car unit!

Does anybody know why this is?

Maintenance on the Units needs to be carried out as the original two car set formation, so one of the cars may be been taken out for this reason

That may be the reason why. Was very surprised when it approached Temple Meads yesterday evening. I was expecting 158763 or 158766!
