Birmingham New Street ticket office were very friendly and helpful to do it, and even asked if I wanted it on CCST or bog roll!
The ticket is probably so rare they thought you were a hq mystery shopper!
Ive had the same thing when I requested a Littlehampton to Kyle of Lochalsh Anytime return!

That is one hell of a journey! :P

I was trying to walk the clerk through how to buy it (she kept looking through the Rovers/Rangers section) to the point that I said "I'll try and find it on BRFares..." to which she showed a smile of acknowledgment.

Based on that and further conversation, I'll just keep in my head that she just thought I was a nerd and nothing more. :D

Used this interesting ticket 30 July 2019 “starting” the loop at Crewe and proceeding anti-clockwise to Shrewsbury. So not a full circuit but under the circumstances still a fun day out:

Horsham (HRH) 05:15 Victoria 06:12, Victoria Line, Euston 07:07 Crewe 08:41, 08:47 Chester 09:08, 09:23 Llandudno Junction 10:15, 10:28 Blaenau Ffestiniog 11:30, 11:35 Porthmadog Harbour 12:45, Porthmadog 14:02 Birmingham New Street 18:30, 18:50 Euston 20:15, Victoria Line, Victoria 20:55 Clapham Junction 21:01, 21:13 Horsham 21:58.

Thanks again to forum members for providing the "secret" codes to hand to the booking clerk at Horsham. A rare occurrence of raised eyebrow and a subsequent smile was the most animated I'd ever seen this particular clerk.

Ticket Issuing System details: [for example]
origin station: 2412 CHESTER - destination: J293 FFEST ROUNDROBIN
origin station: 2968 MANCHESTER PICCADILLY - destination: J293 FFEST ROUNDROBIN

The conductor on my TfW from Fairbourne was explaining the ticket to a young trainee. He explained how we would mark the outward ticket, writing in the three letter code of where I had got on. This was presumably a precaution against people doubling back.

My Mum just bought this ticket at Marple and the young ticket guy eventually found the ticket thanks to the information provided on here and understanding what the ticket actually was. Booking 2 seats on the Ffestiniog railway over the phone was a doddle in comparison
