A group of 10 friends (all adults no railcards) wish to visit the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways in October on a weekday.

Can anyone please advise on the validity of using the Ffestiniog Round Robin product as follows:

Train: Altrincham - Chester - Llandudno Junction - Blaenau Ffestiniog
Ffestiniog Train: Blaenau Ffestiniog - Porthmadog

Then pay for a separate trip on the Welsh Highland from Porthmadog to Caernarfon and a bus fare to Bangor.

Train: Bangor - Llandudno Junction - Chester - Altrincham.

The ATW web map and National Rail are a bit ambiguous to say the least.

Thanks everybody.

Edit: note that in any case, you'd need to purchase a Stockport - FRR ticket, as there's no fare from ALT

Might be worth checking costs against an all zones N Wales Day Rover which AFAIK gives half fare on the NG and free on the bus. Plus Altrincham-Chester return.

Personal preference is to do the Festiniog uphill BTW if the timetable allows.
