Hi people,

All yesterday and so far today, there's been AXC + VWC Voyagers going through Ashton Moss Jcn in both directions - any ideas why? This normally only happens on Sundays...

Also, at about 0945 this morning, 2 EWS 67s and a First ScotRail 90 with panto down roared past at speed with a rake of CWR wagons in tow - any ideas why or where it was going? Also, why the 90?

Cheers for any info! ;)

Engineering works all over the place this time of the year! So there will be diversions etc, that could be the reason.

Could this be to do with the fact Manchester Piccadilly bound Voyagers were going to Manchester Victoria today?

The 90 was probably the one that failed after hitting something on the track, likely going for repair.

90024 was the one that "encountered problems", if that helps.

Normal? it is a normal 90, it's EWS 90 not a FSR 90, just because it's in a different livery, like one of those FSR liveried 90s was on the London - Birmingham & RTN a few weeks back and you always see EWS Red/Gold liveried 90s on the sleepers

^ What he said. Basically, they've been painted in FSR colours, mostly just to show that they are "dedicated" locos, but in reality they can be used anywhere. And, as has beeen said, it was likely to be going for repair just attatched to a diagram that suited.

Again, as there are 4 90 diagrams on the beds every night, there must be an EWS liveried unit somewhere.

As an aside, are any more 90s becoming FSR-ified, or any 67s for that matter? THe press release was a bit vague on that front.

The 2x67+Skoda were on 6Z37 Arpley-Doncaster-Scunthorpe, a train of IGA wagons en route to Corus. Skoda 21 was dropped off at Belmont and went l/e to Wembley as 0Z90. 67s came back on 6M02 Scunthorpe-Crewe.
