I'm going to Ireland at the weekend via Virgin & the ferry from Holyhead. When i come back on the sunday, is the £29 economy single ticket valid for a weekend first upgrade on the chester-euston leg?
the main reason i'm asking is that the train is blocked for reservations, presumably due to the wrexham chester football match on sunday

Virgin have no restrictions on the ticket types they allow to passengers to upgrade to Weekend First with "on train". The only restrictions are on those passengers that wish to purchase their Weekend First upgrade prior to travel and that is restricted to those passengers holding Anytime Day, Off-Peak, Off-Peak Day, Super Off-Peak and One Day Travelcard ticket types.
