Fenny Stratford - Leeds

Hello - can anyone suggested a route and a price form Fenny Stratford to Leeds this Saturday I have been let down by my lift and now need to get the train. I just need a single as I have a lift back. I can also go out from eithwer MKC or BLE if that offers any savings ( I think it is all the same zone!)

I am flexible on times of departure and arrival. Cheapest I can come up with is: LM Bletchley - Euston £5 at 0749 GC to Doncaster on the 1036 from KX (£37.50) or Hull trains to Doncaster (£37.50) on either the 0934 or 1148 and then a £12.40 anytime single from Doncaster to Leeds. Therefore a total of £54.90.

Can anyone offer any advice on obtaining a cheaper fare?

Possibility might be to travel on the 0640 London Midland service from Fenny Stratford to Bedford, arriving 0721, and change there for the 0807 East Midlands Train service from Bedford to Nottingham, arriving 0926. Then the 1015 Northern Trains service from Nottingham to Leeds, arriving 1218. Advance single from Bedford to Leeds on the above trains is currently £18.00, plus you'd also need a £5.40 day single from Fenny Stratford to Bedford. Total £23.40

WOW - that would be fine! best get it booked! Is that all a vilid route - dont really fancy any problems with the guard

Assuming you are referring to the Bedford to Leeds ticket, it's an Advance ticket, therefore valid, by definition, on the itinerary provided.

But in general for Bedford to Leeds, mapped routes are on map SY, which permits travel via either Market Harborough or Corby/Oakham, to Leicester, then via either Nottingham, Derby, or the direct route (few trains), to Chesterfield, Sheffield, then either via Swinton or Barnsley, to Wakefield to Leeds. Between Chesterfield & Sheffield and between Wakefield and Leeds, there are two possible routes, both of which are valid in both cases, although not explicitly shown on the map as they don't need to be.

strange how the £18 ticket shows up on the EMT website but not the EC one

EC's engine seems to be slightly defective in that it isn't picking up all possible advance ticket types at the moment. Why, I don't know.
