Fenchurch St Movements

There have been some odd movements in and out of Fenchurch Street over the past 24 hours. In particular, very early this morning (about 00:20) and then just after lunchtime 12:24 (which was this movement: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U88516/2013/07/10/advanced).

Clearly diesel locos are not very common in this part of the world, so I've noticed them each time they've thundered past. Does anyone know what they're up to? The one at lunchtime was a DRS loco hauling what looked like a rail observation carriage of some sort, however it certainly didn't look like Network Rail.

This is purely guesswork, going by what you've said, it wasn't Caroline was it? Most commonly found with a DRS 37.

UTU test train running around overnight, saloon during the day. There is also a daytime test train (TRC) cicruit which covers all the LTS route ever few months. East Ham is used to stable test trains between workings on other routes as well, so the Stratford - Gas Factory - East Ham - Barking - Stratford triangle actually gets quite a few loco moves.

Pretty sure someone on here is knowledgable about what the different test trains actually do, I just see the names and glaze over!

There was a DRS 37+ MK2 + DBSO parked up at West Ham Depot this evening which is probably what these moves were?

Looks about right – I only got a very quick glimpse as it was hauled past. Definitely a DRS 37 and the Caroline looks about right. A very good guess Any idea what it might have been doing there?

I think this might have been a separate move – there were only two vehicles in the move I saw. Also, a DBSO has far fewer windows!

It was Caroline & Class 37. They came to Southen Vic about 10:45. No idea why. She was packed with gentlemen in suits who don't like waving at people in Little Blue Huts!

Shall I tell you what's worse? Forgetting to see what unusual workings were running through the Barking area today, then by chance nipping into the loo of a 357 which happened to be on a nearby line at the appointed time, and thus completely missing seeing her... unwittingly

Anyway, enough of my gripes... interesting stuff!
