So if there is a problem at Tulse Hill, and a NB Thameslink stuck at West Norwood, it will just be left there blocking the line until the problem is fixed?

Unfortunately yes, as they will not be route learning via Streatham Hill!
However, to tell Control they cannot do something, unless it is due to physical restrictions, union agreements etc is regarded as a challenge!!

Yes, exactly as happens today.

I thought the plan was to learn W Norwood - Balham also (it being about 3 signals each direction), as it is possible that the Tulse Hill / Herne Hill block may coincide with a block Balham - Windmill Bridge.

I haven't heard anything, but that sounds feasible. I'll let you know if I do find out (there's a fair chance).

Although there may not be sufficient incentive due to other transport links being available, I guess FCC could also call at Streatham Hill if Southern staff needed to travel to/from the depot and other services weren't running at high enough frequencies. But I seriously doubt that would be needed for certain, really.

Its a long term training process. Will be plenty of drivers who dough it prior to it being booked. It does offer a get out of jail free card but out can be more destructive to divert than stand to the overall timetable.

Yesterday I saw 319215 around 1330 on the spur between Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction higher numbered side (adjacent to the Down Slow from Waterloo). Seen while I was on another train between Clapham Junction and Queenstown Road.

I was on the 0054 departure from St Pancras to East Croydon this morning and going via Clapham Junction was an unexpected event for me!

Some have, many have been cancelled over the last three nights due to a combination of no drivers or no drivers with route knowledge!

anyone know if there are any planned diversions via clapham junction and the brixton spur? would love to get a chance of "doing" the spur at some-point if i can stay awake that late.

Plently of times remaining as it's the back up route for when Herne Hill is closed until the main route via London Bridge is open in January 2018.

Been trying to find engineering works affecting the route via Herne Hill requiring it to be closed especially on Sunday's and it's proving rather difficult, are there any such works taking place this summer/autumn?

And today, with a bridge bash at Tulse Hill (again!), 2W39 Bedford to Three Bridges southbound was diverted via Pouparts, at the request of Control.
Brighton driver, so signed the route.

Yep had the pleasure of signalling it on the Down Victoria Fast.

Its very disprutive to do during day, IIRC is only planned for overnight services.
