That's a bit **** then! Oh well.

Perhaps if they can show someone DID tap in, you could treat them differently to those who just wave an Oyster card and expect to be let off (or just sold a ticket).

I am only suggesting this for Gatwick, and for a short time until Oyster is accepted properly, not that this becomes policy for other stations/lines.

The new handheld jobbies to check Oyster cards and contactless cards that are currently being phased in will not tell staff where the passenger touched in.

What will they tell you? Zone touched in?

Apparently they will only tell you that the card was touched in, or not. Perhaps one of the staff member regulars can tell us more.

The TVMs in Scotland didn't accept Scottish notes for a while and of course we have the fiasco of the Edinburgh Tram machines here

To be fair, some of the comments are really daft like I didn't know the trains that are used on Bedford to Brighton ie the Class 319s used to be used on the North London Line or that the Class 313s date back to the 1800s :roll:

That said, it is nice to see some of the praise on there from passengers.

Gatwick Airport already has some handheld readers available for staff, but I'm not sure if they are for the newer key card & similar ITSO schemes only.

Yes, but many Edinburgh residents still believe it as true. To be fair it had me going for a bit too!
