Once i had passed the medical they emailed a new reference form and used that instead. But yes there was a reference section on the application form when i applied anyway.

Thanks for your response matey.

It makes sense that they would send a form to obtain updated references due to the time elapsed between applying and getting an offer

I am guessing but would imagine details of the induction process will probably be emailed to everyone together (for a specific depot) once all contracts are returned to save time. My medical is this week

Well done guys, as someone who started training in September maybe I will see some of you if you come to Hornsey for your training. Well done and enjoy your new careers!

James, have you been offered Bedford for January 7th?

I have that offer but just waiting on my medical. Was supposed to have it last week but didn't receive the paperwork so got a phone call asking why I wasn't there for me to then tell them that I didn't know about it. Should find out my medical date by end of the week...

That doesn't sound good mate but obviously not your fault. Yes Bedford in Jan, I have medical at Kings Cross tomoz. I was sent instructions and a map by post.

There is still plenty of time for you to get it all done but for your sanity.. you'll want it all over and done with asap. I understand that.

Will feed back to you about tomorrows marvel later if yur interested

Yes hopefully see you there

So as discussed, I had the medical today. Very painless and routine.

As previous members have already said, you will first fill out a questionnaire on medical history and current state of health. Then its off to the extremely not sound proof booth for a hearing test. I must stress (as others have done) that you need supersonic hearing to get the tones, lol

then, you will have BMI, ECG & eye-test long/short distance reading (each eye) and the chart. This takes quite a while actually. Urine sample is next followed by more questions and signing consent forms.

Then its off to see the Doctor for some basic mobility tests. All in all, you are there for about 90mins. 89 of which will be with the occupational therapy tech and 1 min with the doctor.

I hope this helps mate

All the best,

Evening all - just joined the forum, had my medical today at Kings Cross and passed it, waiting drug test results - also start at Bedford in January.

Have to admit the hearing test was really difficuly, only just scraped through in right ear - to be honest all I could hear was my breathing and the people outside!

Good luck for your medical tomorrow mate. Its been several days and im still waiting for the result of mine and next steps :-?

Its just unfortunate timing as people are off at present until middle of next week and HR have just told me to wait.. so we will probably both know the outcome together.

Curious about referencing tho. Do we receive the contract first by post with a referencing form or is referencing requested first..

Anyone ??

Thanks for your reply mate. Do you know if they require more than 1 reference if that covers a 2yr work history ?

Thanks in advance

Asked that you have references that cover at least the last 2 years with space given for up to 3 different employers. And for 2 character references.
As it was ive worked for my employer for 11 years so they said they wouldnt use my character ref only the employer.

Nope heard nothing so far and the other few ppl ive spoken to haven't either.

Did send them an email yesterday asking for info but not had a reply as of yet.

With less then 2 weeks to start date you would have expected to have heard something!

Cheers

Same here, but as they are employing such a large number of people and one of the managers is on leave currently I assume they are just very busy. It's a relief to know it's not just me though :)

I don't leave mine until the day before, they have said I can stay if I like though haha. I am much less nervous now knowing we are all in the same boat though.

Just wondering if any of you boys (& girls) starting this month have received any info about your course yet ?
