FCC stabling points

please can i have the stations that fcc terminate at and the stabling points please

stations that i can think of, there will be more - london kings cross, welwyn garden city, peterborough, cambridge, london moorgate

some stabling points are - hornsey depot, ferme park carriage sidings, welwyn garden city sidings, peterborough yard.

Royston in peak time and an odd one or two more in the evening IIRC

Stevenage for many of the Hertford loop services. Letchworth for some as well.

There is quite a big stabling point just East of Letchworth station.

You being serious? It's not a place, it means If I Recall Correctly!

As for other stabling points I've sometimes seen FCC trains stable in the sidings at Cambridge, opposite the station, but there are mainly NXEA 317s sitting there.

"IIRC" stands for "If I Recall Correctly"- it's a common internet abbreviation!

The 365s and 317s also stable at Cambridge.

are all locations that I know are turnback locations ie locations where trains can terminate either in normal service or because of engineering works.

are all locations which have sidings in which trains can be stabled to be cleaned or otherwise - *means a limited number of sidings/platforms available.

Not forgetting of course Hornsey TSC and the neighbouring locations ie Ferme Park on the Down side opposite the depot where you can usually see Metronet wagons, Grand Central/First Hull Trains or even a NXEC, Bowes Park Reversing Siding, Harringay/Hornsey Sidings.

You're a tad out of date with Moorgate.

The section of line leading to Moorgate from the Farringdon junction on the Thameslink line has been abandoned, and is no longer in use.

The extention of Farringdon Station to accomodate longer trains means that the platform will 'foul' this junction, to the immediate south east of the existing station, so NO stabling or access of ANY kind now takes place.

At the GN terminus (from Finsbury Park) at Moorgate, I believe only two platform stabling MAY be possible, but I don't think even that is 'stabling' in the sense of the FOUR tracks available from Farringdon.

Hornsey up sidings? You mean the depot?...in 11 years on the ECML the depot has never been called "Up sidings"!

I don't know how I managed to forget about Nene Sidings especially as I live in Peterborough and go by there all the time to and from work not to mention when I travel around as well, big blooper on my part.

As to the others, I was just going by memory from reading the turnback locations file which one of the driver managers did - believe a Thameslink and a Great Northern one was done, they're somewhere on Platform.

Hence why I only posted the ones I could remember with no problems.

FCC trains also turn back at East Croydon, mainly on Sundays, and in the new siding at Herne Hill (trains that terminate at Elephant and Castle actually continue to Herne Hill empty to reverse). Also, I believe they can now turn back at South Croydon, in platform 4, using the new turnback trackwork there, although I've never seen it happen yet

I think they were refering to Moorgate as a turminus. And in any event, while TL Moorgate has no passenger services it is still used to stable units. I saw one there last week. My understanding is that the branch closes in December after the timetable change.

Lee you are correct, in that Moorgate Midland is still used as an emergency bolt hole should a unit fail or need to come out of service, however we loose that ability from December.

Nothing is booked to stable in Moorgate, either on the GN or TL, and since the Leaffall TT came in, there are no booked workings into or out of Moorgate Midland. The 317 that was being used as a crowdbuster has now been returned to the GN, and that train now starts from Elephant and Castle and is 2x319s.

Additionally, FCC do not stable on Ferme Park AFAIK.
