Apologies if this is already a thread, i'm just wondering if anyone else has applied for the Shunters job with First Capital Connect and if you have, have you heard anything back?
Thanks

I was considering it, until I looked at the "Further Particulars" and it appeared to be more of a glorified train cleaner and points operator role than a depot driver! (That, and I wouldn't be able to get to any of the depots in question in a reasonable time).
Any job described as "Shunter" normally have no driving involved. They will involve pulling points and some other duties, if unlucky it is cleaning. If the role involves driving it will never be titled Shunter but rather Shunter Driver / MDD / Depot Driver / Driver Operator / etc
Hi, New to this forum, my first edit on this.........does anyone know the FCC shunters rosters, eg length of shifts and frequency of turns.....4 on/4 off, 8 on/6 off ?

I'm not 100% sure for the Thameslink side but on the GN the only depot to have depot drivers is Hornsey. Everywhere else (the nene, welwyn and letchworth...Cambridge depot is greater Anglia...) has shutters who don't do any driving, they control the yards, speak to the signaller, set the road, give the driver authority to move etc.
