Thanks for letting us know and I'm glad common sense has prevailed on this occasion. I suggest you try not to get into further such situations rather than planning on being back here though ;)

For the future, don't forget to bring some means of payment with you when you go out, just in case something odd happens — and I got a little confused at first reading your post as you mentioned you were at Kings Cross rather than St. Pancras, but nothing of course turns on that.

Ah, excellent outcome. I am glad that FCC saw sense in not proceeding any further.

I got the call this morning, it actually woke me up Given reading my emails and the RPI reportf, I am to pay the £16 full fare from st pancras to Luton and that is the end of the matter. Thank god FCC came to there senses.

Thanks for all you guys help and support, as this has generally been an extremely distressing period in my life due to the fact that I am a natural worrier and genuinely felt I may end up with a criminal record (I want to be a doctor). If I ever get into a sticky situation with a TOC, I'll be back. See you all and have a good Christmas! So so so so relieved.

Great news! Although it's only now that I've realised it was St Pancras, not King's Cross.

I can say that over the years I've come to know many of the staff at King's Cross, but obviously don't have a clue who might have been there at 5am - but they're usually a good bunch of people.

However, this forum has highlighted a fair few incidents with people who have had problems with the staff manning the Thameslink side gates, so hopefully FCC will have a quiet word with the member of staff to stop such an incident happening again (rare as it might be).
