FCC - kids fares

Hi - I'm pretty sure that it was possible for kids to travel to/from London on FCC at the weekends for a flat £2 fare (from Peterborough/Huntingdon etc on the EC line), as long as the adult has a valid ticket and they travel together.

However, either FCC are hiding this very well on their website, or the offer has been withdrawn.

Anyone able to confirm one way or the other on this ?

BRFares indicates that there is a £2 "child flat fare" between Huntingdon/Peterborough and London King's Cross, with a FCC Only restriction:

Does the adult have a Gold Card or is he purchasing an Anytime Day Travelcard?

I bought the £2 fare last year. Typical of FCC their ticket machines wanted to sell me a normal price child ticket despite having entered both adult and child on the screen. I ended up going to the ticket office and bought them over the counter.

Wow, what a surprise that their TVMs aren't set up (or perhaps you'll find that some do but others won't).

Despite the fact the ticket offices aren't always open, they all want you using the machines - to give them more money than you need to!

I work for Southern

The £2 child flat fares (in common with Southern £1 flat fares) are generally valid on all operators

Where FCC is not the lead operator on a flow then the £2 child flat fare will apply to the FCC only flow (eg Peterborough to London where EC is lead operator)

People get confused by this but a Southern £1 child flat fare from Brighton to London is valid on FCC and a FCC £2 flat fare from Brighton to Bedford is valid on Southern

The lead operator for a flow sets the fares and all TOCs have to honour them

So if you have a £2 child flat fare from Huntingdon to London (route any permitted) its ok to use EC from Stevenage
