FCC application question

Hi All, I am new to the forum and wonder if I may ask a question regarding my current situation.

I was made aware last week that FCC are recruiting for trainee drivers. I have previously booked and paid for an assessment with DBS on 17th Jan, as I felt that this would help with my application.
I emailed FCC asking them would the DBS assessment be valid with FCC, and was advised to submit my application just in case it closes early.
This now leaves me with several options:

1. Submit my application now and mention that I am booked in with DSB on tues and will advise of result ASAP following the assessment.

2. Submit application now and make no mention of my DBS assessment, and then advise them should I pass it.

3. Take a chance and hang fire and then submit my application immediately following my assessment and hope they don't close applications early.

4. Cancel my DBS assessment altogether and lose £200

I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas on the best course of action. I am swaying towards 2/3 above at present.

I have my application filled out ready to submit, and was wondering if they should close early would they just pull the plug on applications, or maybe just bring the closing date forward slightly? At the moment its 7th Feb.

Hi there! Whatever you do, I recommend you SUBMIT your application a.s.a.p. Northern Rail removed their Trainee Train Driver vacancy from their website early due to the volume of applications.

I'd go for options 1 or 2 personally. Not sure if others agree. Good luck!

Yep definitely do the application and submit asap...

If you going to lose money by cancelling the assessment with dbs then do it with them.

If you pass it you can let fcc know. No point including 'I'm going to do....' on the app....they only interested in 'I have successfully completed....'.

If you don't pass it then you can let fcc know (if you can be bothered - personally I'd wait until they contact you! Thats if they ever do)

They've got there own tests Fcc so even if you pass your paid one your still gonna have to do another one with Fcc. Not sure if they will make you retake the whole lot or just the extra bits probably the latter.

Thanks to all of you for your advice, I have decided to go with it and submit my application today, but will only mention the assessment once I have passed it, and of course If I pass it !!!!

FCC did mention that they will accept the DBS assessment when they responded to my query.

Just thought I would ask the question.
If you fail the DBS assessment and the FCC then invite you to their own assessment,am I right in thinking you would not be able to sit this until after Six months having failed the first?

Hi BC.....I believe you are right in what you are saying, which further complicates matters.

I have submitted my application today, and plan to go ahead with the DBS assessment as planned. If I fail I will simply have to withdraw my apllication to FCC, and if I pass I'll email them straight away and ask them to update my application accordingly.
