In the same boat as you mate, it's killing me! Would be eternally grateful if someone on the inside could let us know if you hear or could find out when the next intake of trainee drivers will start. As I have stated previously, the gentleman taking my managers interview suggested it would be around December, so if I haven't heard anything by the end of this month, I guess a call to HR is on the cards.
Funny thing is, I came on here to make the same post then saw yours! Great minds and all that.....

Would I have been called for a medical by now if I was to be on this course?
I am desperate to get out of my current job!
Possibly. I had my medical in March and started this month. They say the next course is in November or December (can't remember which). We were told today that they are short of drivers at Bedford and that they need 200+ over TL in the next few years.

I can imagine that they're short with the strikes and all... ;) On a serious note, I can only assume they're being trained up for the new Thameslink stock.

Seeing as the agreement to build the stock hasn't been signed yet, let alone any units actually available for training I don't think that's the reason.

Bedford has been half empty for the past few years and they havnt been trying to fill it-just relying on overtime. I believe they are starting to fill Bedford slowly.

Kings x has about 27 vacancies at the moment and they are all to be filled by trainees starting later this year. But there are a few leaving the x in the new year aswell.

All other depots are currently full and standing at the moment as far as I know. Possibly 1 or 2 vacancies at Cambridge.
