How could I forget the legendary blue trains?

Used to get the every day from Scotstounhill to Jordanhill for school.

They will always have a wee place in my list of favourite trains.

Hellfire is two 37's on a ballast train early one sunday morning from Leicester to Toton when you are promised thats all you have to do for 12 hours pay!!

Needless to say I didnt hang around!..that was 1993 I think..always remember that as I always used to let the secondman/trainman drive to get experience,but I had a new lad as trainman,so needed to run them swiftish!The only occasion the 2nd man didnt drive with me

From a drivers point of view I like 142s because the cab is quite well laid out, and 150/1s for the high driving position and the 3 huge windscreens give excellent visibility and make the cab light and airy.

From the other perspective I always liked 1st generation DMMUs especially when the drivers left the blinds up

158 - Especially the ex CT sets with the very comfy green seats.
168 - Just better than 165/166.
313 - First dual voltage EMUs? Part of the charm of the NLL
319 - Thameslink City Flyer! Although in the City they crawl.
373 - Still pretty impressive and show up Britain's railways, especially as the North of London sets were a lot shorter and so much slower.
377 - What the Desiros should have been, comfortable!
465 - Makes great noises taking off.

AAAAAAAARGDSFSGArrgh:

220 - Very comfortable train going through Cornwall/Devon, half empty and a shop! Useless past Exeter though. These should have been built twice if not 3 times as long, and they still smell horrid.
221 - Still far too short except if doubled
390 - Pillars for views, no personal space, tiny windows, 105% plastic etc
450 - Plug doors are useless and the seats are hard, quite clinical inside

Possibly blue with green bits on then? I had a few on the North Staffs line.
