I think my favourite unit would have to be 158 750. It was the last 158 in Regional Railways Express livery, and I managed to get a ride on it before First stuck that vinyl along the side, and, even worse, replaced it with a 185! :-x

It also has a great, typically high-pitched (and loud) 158 horn! And, as an added bonus, it makes that classic 158 whine when it powers up!

My favourite loco would have to be one of the 91s. Probably 91 101 or 91 111.

91 111 has a brilliant version of the 91 horn, but it's a shame about the tacky livery! :roll:

I do have more (better) pictures of 33056, but this is the only one that has been scanned so far.

43034 - When I first saw it at Newport it had a nice wonky Govenor. If we go for favourite engine (one of the main factors to a favourite loco) - has to be S444.

The engine that was in 43034 the most, when I was liking it. It may sounds weird, but why do people enjoy locos? Mostly, the reason is the noise from it, e.g the 'thrash'. I found S444 to do that quite well!

Strangely enough that is the only class 58 I have never seen, Being from Nottingham I saw class 58's on a daily basis, but 001 and 002 I never saw, Mainly because they were based at Bescot. If you wanna see 58002 then last time i seen it it was at Eastleigh Depot, but be warned its in a shocking state as its been used as a sorce of spares for the France bound locos, its surely living on borrowed time!

Back to favourite locos, mines got to be 66589, which i was lucky enough to get a short cab ride on back in 2008, managed a short cab ride on 66537/538 & 66580 to, so all four of these locos stick in my mind with 66589 being the favourite for obviously being the first cabride!

My favorite loco of all time was scrapped many years ago Class 45 peak 45137. I have taken a soft to the class i currently work on 313103. I am still waiting for the first class 378 i had my picture taken against 378003. Which may become one i will like.

I have a great photo that I found again recently of 'The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment (T.A.)' taken next to 40044 at Sheffield in 1984.

Excellent, i never had a decent camera by the the time the peaks were withdrawn so never got many pics of them. I certainly do not have one of 45137.

I was a second man on her on a trip diverted from Bedford to take the Bedford Bletchley line to join the WCML into Euston i felt like royalty when we arrived into Euston there was that many photographers around.

As for Class 33 "Cromptons" quite hard to choose between them but I still love them all the same.

37 275 - My fastest ever trip through the the tunnel - sub 3 mins for the 4 miles 628 yards.

55 021 - On a relief service from KX in its last years with a rake of Mk1s, we went through Finsbury Park at 90+ - not bad considering the climb.

088 - in the late 90s this loco was running around for a while with a defective silencer, the noise was awesome. I first had it Mallow-Heuston on a rake of Cravens, so I could have the window open to fully appreciate the thrash.

T3xx - I forget the set no, but it was loaned to Bath Road due to a shortage of units. It was so chronically unreliable that Bath Road gave up on it and it ended up being used as hauled stock. Several no heat 37s were picked up dragging it around before an EH 31 was semi-permanently attached to it.

edit - missed out 33057 - whilst most cromptons were very reliable, it the latter days of loco hauled Pompeys this one was a right dog. Failed on me at least 3 times to give no-heat rescue engines. Rather annoyingly 47297 did the honours twice!
