• The Proclaimers - listening to the songs is good. Listening to the words is great (like Dylan in that respect)

My dad often likes to tell the story of seeing the Band of Joy (Robert Plant, John Bonham) play at Kirkcaldy YM. He remembers Robert Plant coming around the audience after the gig looking for change for his bus fare home.

An eclectic mix for me ranging from The Beatles, Rolling Stones and early 60's Ska, through the Two-Tone era and punk of the 70's & 80's. Also other regular favourites include: Turin Brakes, Muse, a handful of ska bands (Liberator, Ska Patrol, Skalatones etc), Prince Fatty, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Temples, Black Keys, Kasabian, Sea Pinks, Florence & The Machine, Adele, Eels, Manics but first and foremost - Half Man, Half Biscuit.

So you didn't manage to catch Arthur Lee (and his new incarnation of Love) when he toured the UK 10 years ago? I manage to catch them on three occasions, 'Forever Changes' was brilliant...as he was and the band! I would like to have seen the Doors, missed them by a couple of years...was it the RoundHouse gig?

Yep, I'm a real old f**t. Most of these blokes are still going though (the ones that haven't snuffed it, that is) and they're STILL older than me. Also saw the Kinks playing in the local Methodist Hall when their first record was in the top ten: big business hadn't got hold of everything then and squeezed the life and enjoyment out of it, but I was lucky to be in London I guess.

"Waterloo Sunset" It was the end of Southern steam that inspired Ray Davies to write that track was it not? Love it!
