A person has been killed at Whittlesea this morning. Although it is reported as having involved an XC service, looking at RTT the incident appears to have involved the 1L04 0835 NOT-NRW.

The line was closed for a couple of hours, it looks like it re-opened in the Peterborough bound direction first.

A person who was hit by a train in Cambridgeshire this morning (October 11) has died.

Train services throughout the county are expected be delayed well into this afternoon after the incident at Whittlesea Station.
Officers from British Transport Police were called to the scene at 9.54am and attended alongside the ambulance service. The person sadly died at the scene, but the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

While the line remains closed, trains will be disrupted between Ely, March and Peterborough
Services from CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains and Greater Anglia have all been affected ....

Unit placement was still all over the place in Nottingham at gone 1700, messages telling people to board just the front part of the train on the 1734 to Norwich, the front part was a 153, needless to say staff on the ground put them right and the 153 was removed and taken somewhere, still a short wait for a driver though. EMT have had a few more issues around Grantham with at least 1 train fault too today.

The up line required a wait for a driver manager to attend from Norwich to move the unit in question to March to clear the line. Initial response was from the Network Rail local operations manager and signaller along with the train guard to care for the guys on the footplate. From what I understand as a relatively new guard he should be proud of his conduct. A good response from all concerned in difficult circumstances especially from the Whittlesea signaller.

The level crossing gates just up the line on the A605 are stuck in the down position this morning causing huge delays.

Usually if the Norwich side of Ely GA will send a driver manager & driver to attend any incident involving EMT & return their unit to Crown Point.
