A graphic photo of this incident appeared on twitter, BTP are looking into it but it is not clear whether any offence has been committed but clearly there are moral issues.

I saw it, it wasn't that graphic, although the cause of death was unarguable.

Your comments are a bit of a contradiction but anyway the main concern was the victims family seeing the photo before the police had notified them

There has been someone struck near Leamington Spa tonight, haven't heard if its a fatality or not but in any case thoughts are with those involved.

Its the last thing the railways need after a day of severe disruption.

Sadly there has been a fatailty at Crossflats this afternoon. Big dispruption for all Airedale and Whafedale services until at least 18:00.

New Post: Sorry for the brief post above but I was bouncing along on a 626 bus towards Shipley earlier. The latest update is that many services are cancelled and Northern are trying to arrange replacement buses. No further word on the incident itself.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Further update: It seems that the line is now back open, but because of the complex diagrams on these lines it'll be some time before units and crews are back in position and normal services resumed. So cancellations continue.

In the meantime, Twitter is awash with people asking Northern why there are not fleets of staffed buses on standby to rush to their rescue on a week/school day, at the start of rush hour. Perhaps if a few used those phones to work out an alternative route home via public transport rather than giving Northern a hard time, they'd be like me. At home with a glass of wine!

Nope. Not for me anyway. But as you've kindly transcribed it, no need to worry.

Thanks.

 Tip:

When copying a URI from a browser address bar, over-write the 'http://' that is included in the Insert Link dialogue, otherwise, as has occurred here, the 'http://' will be duplicated. It is not obvious that the protocol will be copied with the address as it is not displayed in modern browsers.

Some bright spark has realised this happens and has registered the domain http.com.

Regards

Bushy

Got caught in the middle of this on 1F79, which was the first northbound to be held. It always seems my luck that my train is the first in a long queue to be affected. :(

The crew were fantastic though, and I feel much relief now that things were not any worse, as is the case with some behind us - 1F83 just arrived at Leicester 2 hours late, and now canned at Derby. Bustitution for pax to Sheffield I guess.

1C87 now canned at Kettering. I guess pax were bustituted to London? The last southbound, 1B89 was already gone by the time we cleared Kettering, and 1C87 still had pax onboard then.

I would assume that passengers were bussed or taxied to destination - I don't have anymore information on that, I'm afraid.

Reports of a train hitting something in the West Drayton Area. May be a false alarm
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Now Confirmed. A person has been hit by a train at West Drayton.

Thoughts go out to the driver, crew, victims family and staff at the scene

Mods: Any chance this thread could be renamed to "Fatality Thread" since it has been used for many fatalities since the original?

Service involved appears to be 1P71 1831 Oxford to Pad

The only reason I added 'I think' into that post was because I wasn't sure what service was involved in the incident.

The fact you didnt know what train was involved means you were speculating so why post it!
Adding 'I think' doesnt change anything!

If I was to post 'I think you are a complete effing W' would the 'I think' make it all right? No it wouldnt!
PS I dont! ;)

If you want a lesson on why not to speculate, listen to the first few phone calls to and from LUL's Network Operations Centre on 7/7.
