Which TOC deducts 2 days AL from Christians for Christmas and Boxing day and not others when everybody is forced to take the 2 days off during shutdown?

Not quite sure on it being a good system, too early to say at the moment. It feels more like we struggle through rather than 'enjoy' the spirit of the month. It works well for people who are unemployed/work in a more flexible job where they can pick and choose hours or live in a predominantly Muslim country where the whole country adapts for the month.

I thought being employed helped because it keeps you busy and occupied. do you try to read a chapter of the quran per day?

What exactly is being 'occupied' supposed to distract from?

I'd love for someone to give me an example of how or when the sleep is supposed to fit in for shift workers, especially for those 4/5 AM starts.

My mums response is along the lines of; we have all year to eat sleep etc. This one month is for doing as much as we can in terms of prayers, fasts, reading the Quran.....

Which still leaves me non the wiser as to when people like me can get the required sleep in before going to work.

My brother delivers cars/vans for a lease company which means he spends most of the day Driving up and down the country. He's more dedicated than me and does 5 prayers, fasts etc. when I asked how he's getting on with work this month his response was fine. When I asked him a straight "so you don't find yourself nodding off for a split second from time to time" he said yes but thats to be expected. My next question to which there was no answer is "so what happens if you don't wake up within a few seconds?". Makes me wonder how many more 'brothers or sisters' are out there pushing the boundary and everybody elses safety. Thougt I'd add this can be applied to anyone not just Muslims, I regularly hear talk in the messroom along the lines of I'm f***ing knackered today, didn't get home till XX time......

This won't be popular but the fact is we're brought up to follow blindly and not question/disturb anything. This is more of a cultural thing than a religious one. I lost count the number of times I got slapped by the mosque teacher as a kid for asking inquisitive questions that came in to my head. The response at home wasn't much different.

We were also taught it was a sin to take still pictures or video things or watch television. Now there are atleast 3 or more dedicated Islamic channels on Sky...:roll:

I don't pretend to have all the answers but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be allowed to ask oursleves questions.

No, it is compulsory that 2 days leave is used unless you are on a RD

Lets knock this on the head.

If you work for a toc or foc that requires you to take al on Christmas day or boxing day, it applies to ALL drivers working for that toc, regardless of your religious beliefs or non-religious beliefs.

There is increasing pressure on rail companies to run services, especially on boxing day just as there is pressure I run trains on Sundays at the same frequency as weekdays.
