According to National Rail enquiries its service departs Watford Junc 16.33 arrives Euston 16.33.

Going from Bing Maps, thanks to my Edina Digimap not being approved yet, I get Euston at 296827 and Watford Jcn at 111973 so Watford Jcn is 18.5km West of Euston

Perhaps they have decided to take into account the enevitable falling of wires, signalling failures and broken down trains, and scheduled a journey time of 24 hours!

Atleast there would be a chance of it arriving on time.

alternatively if London Midland joined absolutely every unit they have into one very long train (and borrowed from every other operator) maybe they could make a train long enough so that it's back is just leaving Watford as it's front enters Euston?

Feel free to work out exactly how many units would need to be coupled together to create a train of this length

Knowing my luck, the quiet carriage would be two from the front. I would have walked 9/10ths of the way to Euston only to find a back packer sat in my seat.
