It's a good point, but do be aware that if you change at Swindon to or from one of the remaining Cheltenham shuttles you may be using a Paddington service that does not stop at Didcot, especially if there is disruption.

If a combination of season tickets is used there is no longer a requirement for the train to call at the station where you change tickets. See NRCoT 14.2.
