Farringdon Station does not like the rain

The recent rain really has shown up the works that have been done at Farringdon.

The new roof just slightly overlaps the old one with quite a difference in height so if the wind blows in the right direction the rain comes through.

This morning in several places there were streams of water running down walls on the TfL side of the station with puddles in other places.

Even the new part of the station is not watertight with buckets noted at the join between the old brickwork and the new concrete section.

The new roof leaks anyway!

Are there any plans to "complete" the existing roof over the FCC part of the station so that it looks the same as the LU part? If not, why not!!

When I worked at Farringdon, rain always meant problems. Heavy rain meant chaos.

I would have expected that the station renovation/rebuild would have had fixing this as a very high priority. Otherwise it's going to cause all sorts of problems in the years ahead.

The central core has enough potential problems as it is, without easily preventable ones adding to them.

The new roof probably isn't allowed to join the existing roof for reasons best known to the planners, and I expect the same applies to the south side against the office building.

I believe the gap in the original roof over the FCC platform area IS to be reinstated to match the existing, if I get a few minutes I might try and confirm that in the planning stuff for the station...
