Fares changes needed for Yeovil stations?

Just spent a few minutes playing with NRES for fares to the two Yeovil stations following the December timetable change, and so far it seems a bit of a nightmare waiting to happen.

There seems to be a Yeovil Stations destination for the planner's purposes, but no logic to the actual fares.

Should Waterloo to Yeovil stations 'Via Salisbury' really be more expensive than 'any permitted'?

Singles, 15th December:

Salisbury to Junction at £15.40
Junction to Pen Mill at £2.40
Salisbury to Pen Mill via Junction at £24.10

The second fare is the same for the rail link bus or the train. Whether its a train or a bus it still shows the 'not valid on the bus between the stations' yellow warning triangle.

Would a fares guru like to comment?

Of course there's still that negative easement 31 that seems to make travel between the stations a huge problem - presumably that will go on or about 13th of December?

You seem to have discovered that splitting tickets can sometimes be cheaper than buying a through ticket.

I think the more expensive VIA SALISBURY single fares is an anomaly caused by the divergence of SWT's and GWR's pricing strategies. GWR tends to price singles at a very good discount on the return fare, whereas SWT continues to price them in general at a very small discount (e.g. 10p to £1). For return fares the VIA SALISBURY fares are cheaper. A similar anomaly exists for London to Exeter, where for an off-peak single journey the VIA TAUNTON fares are cheaper than the VIA HONITON ones.
